Guidelines for presentations

General Instructions

Delegates are strongly encouraged to relate their work to future missions. For example, what impact will new missions occuring over the next few year have on their research.

In order to facilitate this, the slides for the talk on Future Missions by Richard Harrison are available as a pdf file. They can be downloaded at the following link.

Guidelines for Invited and Contributed Talks

Talk length
Invited: 30 mins (talk) + 5 mins (discussion)
Contributed: 10 mins (talk) + 5 mins (discussion)

Session chairs will be keeping strictly to time.

Please check the programme for full details of the talks and timings.

Equipment available
Overhead projector, data/digital projector, conference computer

All electronic presentations will be done on the conference computer, delegates will not be permitted to use their own laptops.

There will be a speakers preparation room with identical machines so delegates can test their presentations.

The final setup of the machine has not yet been decided, but delegates may assume the following

  • It will run an uptodate Windows XP
  • A recent PowerPoint
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Internet Explorer
  • Netscape

Mac users should take particular note of point 1 and where possible, test their talk on a windows machine.

Electronic talks may be ftp'd to the conference in advance (see instructions below), or they may be brought on CDROM or USB memory stick. Speakers on the Monday are particularly encouraged to ftp their talks in advance.

If you have any specific requirements above this, please email the conference at office@soho15.org and let us know.

Guidelines for Posters

All posters will be displayed throughout the entire conference. They will be grouped into 'sessions' of related posters. These groupings will be announced later.

All poster boards will be large enough to hold an A0 portrait size poster, e.g.,
CentimetresInches
HeightWidthHeightWidth
A01198446.533

Authors should aim to fit their posters within this space.

There are a few larger boards, so if you wish to present an A0 sized poster in landscape orientation, please email us at office@soho15.org so we can make suitable arrangements.

FTP Instructions

It will be possible to ftp electronic presentations in advance (speakers on Monday are particularly encouraged to do this. Specific instructions will be posted shortly.
