Petros Syntelis

Post-doctoral research fellow

Greetings! I'm a post-doctoral research fellow within the Solar and Magnetospheric Theory group in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St Andrews , Scotland.

My main research involves numerical simulations of magnetic flux emergence. I am interested in the physical processes that create eruptive phenomena in the solar corona and their relationship to the properties of the subphotospheric magnetic fields. I have also studied observations of the pre-eruptive configuration of active regions and the initiation profile of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) using STEREO, SDO and Hinode data. Recently, I've become also interested on magnetic reconnection on flux cancelling regions.
