Research Assistant Position in Coronal Heating

Salary: £35,333 – £38,592 per annum
Start Date: 1st November 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter
The Solar and Magnetospheric Theory Group in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of St Andrews, has an opening for a Research Fellow to work in solar theory, in particular coronal heating. Funded by an STFC Consolidated Grant (PI Prof T Neukirch), this project will be led with Profs Ineke De Moortel and Alan Hood. Preference will be given to applicants with previous research experience in coronal heating, but we also encourage applications by candidates who have relevant experience in other areas of plasma theory, for example in MHD simulations. You should have completed or expect to obtain shortly a PhD in either solar physics or a closely related subject.
This post is fixed term with an end date of 31 March 2025. The start date will be 1 November 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
